Defenders of Wildlife works to save wolves without endangering others

To save the lives of American wolve, Defenders of Wildlife is leading critical on-the-ground efforts to reduce livestock losses and foster goodwill among the ranching community.

Photo courtesty of Defenders of WildlifeIn cooperation with ranchers, biologists, and federal land managers, Defenders of Wildlife has developed several effective, life-saving strategies to prevent needless wolf deaths. For example, through the use of a wolf telemetry receiver, ranchers and herders can track the movements of a wolf pack to avoid potential conflicts. Turbofladry, a simple red flag system, discourages wolves from crossing into livestock pastures.

Defenders of Wildlife is a national, nonprofit membership organization dedicated to the protection of all native animals and plants in their natural communities. Founded in 1947, they are one of the country's leaders in science-based, results-oriented wildlife conservation.
