Prairie Dogs Rescued from Colorado Flooding

On September 15, 2013, the president declared a major disaster in Colorado. Massive flooding has damaged homes and businesses and destroyed critical infrastructure, including roads and phone lines.

When disasters like this strike, it's not just the people who struggle. Pets and wildlife often also struggle to survive.

Fortunately, Humane Society United States (HSUS) was on the scene to help rescue stranded prairie dogs as their homes were washed away. Already, they've rescued some 45 animals, and their work continues.
