Royal couple goes tree climbing

The Danum Valley research center in Malaysia received royal visitors in September.

As part of their Diamond Jubilee tour of Southeast Asia, Great Britain's Prince William and his wife Catherine (Kate), the Duchess of Cambridge, put on harnesses and were hoisted up a 130-foot tree by ropes.

This protected rainforest serves as a home to more than 100 types of mammals including the Sumatran rhino, Bornean pygmy elephant, clouded leopard, orangutan, and proboscis monkey. The jungle also serves as a important habitat for hundreds of species including birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and butterflies.

The majority of the reserve is lowland dipterocarp forest.
