Thai elephant enclosure protects gentle giants

Surin enclosureThrough the Gifts That Give More program at The Animal Rescue Site, provides funding for wildlife rescue groups around the world. One project receiving support helps feed and protect elephants in Thailand.

From Eleonor Content, Executive Director of Abraham Foundation for The Surin Project:
I wanted to write a short update about things at the elephant rescue project in Surin, Thailand. As I wrote in my last email, the enclosure was single handedly funded by the donations from The Animal Rescue Site. It has made the hugest difference in the lives of these poor gentle giants. The enclosure gives them the opportunity to eat, bathe and graze at will. They are bonding with each other in the most moving way.
We also built a platform in the enclosure as the new meeting spot for the project’s volunteers. Amongst other things, they have breakfast there, surrounded by the elephants below.
This picture shows five-year-old Imboon and her mother Mem bathing in the enclosure.
We cannot thank you enough for having our project on The Animal Rescue Site. The money we have received has made the most dramatic difference in the lives of these elephants. Because of the enclosure and platform, the project has become more attractive to volunteers.
Right now we are just waiting for the rains to come so food can grow. This dry season has been long and food for the elephants has been very sparse. Thank you again for your kind support and for making such a huge difference to this project.
