Sign the petition to save California's beautiful Richardson Grove.

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has proposed cutting down an old-growth grove of redwood trees in a majestic part of California called Richardson Grove. Richardson Grove is home to a diverse ecosystem and some of the tallest redwood trees in the world. Caltrans wants to widen Highway 101 — and action that would require them to disturb delicate old-growth roots. This would threaten the future of the entire grove of redwoods.

Caltrans has yet to confirm that their construction won't permanently harm Richardson Grove. Before it moves forward with this potentially disastrous project, Caltrans needs to guarantee its plans won't affect the future health of Richardson Grove.

Write to California Governor Jerry Brown asking him to ensure that Caltrans will not harm Richardson Grove or the old-growth forest with its highway widening project.

The Petition:

Dear Governor Brown,

I am asking that you give your attention to a potentially disastrous project Caltrans is planning to embark upon in an area of California called Richardson Grove.

Richardson Grove is a majestic cluster of ancient old-growth redwood trees — and is home to some of the tallest trees in the world. Tourists come from all over to marvel at the unspeakable beauty that is Richardson Grove.

But Caltrans wants to widen Highway 101 in this delicate environment, threatening the old-growth trees and other plant and animal life that coexist with them. Caltrans' plans could have devastating effects on this forest.

Richardson Grove is a precious part of Northern California's ecosystem and should be kept pristine. Please see that Richardson Grove is protected and Caltrans doesn't ruin this spectacular beauty.

Thank you for your time.
