Goal: 25,000 Progress: 11,313
Sponsored by: National Parks Conservation Association

The Crater Lake region includes thousands of acres of wildlife-rich old-growth forests, towering peaks and the headwaters of the Rogue and Umpqua Rivers. Despite these extraordinary features, the park and its adjacent lands have never been fully protected, and remain threatened by logging, mining and development.

Crater Lake National Park and neighboring national forest lands deserve permanent congressional wilderness designation, safeguarding them from these threats.

Sign our petition today to encourage Oregon's elected officials to protect Crater Lake's integrity by keeping it wild — forever!

Crater Lake has been valued and celebrated by humans for thousands of years, and is one of America's first national parks. Yet today, Crater Lake National Park is one of the West Coast's only national parks lacking formal wilderness designation, the ultimate protection for wildlands in the United States.

As someone who values our national parks, I call on you to introduce legislation to protect the wilderness at Crater Lake National Park and its neighboring roadless areas. Wilderness protection for the Crater Lake region will preserve one of the largest scenic, recreational and wildlife-rich areas still existing in Oregon. It's time to give this iconic park the protection it deserves.

Thank you for considering my comments.
