At the GreaterGood Network, we have worked for years with artisan families in Haiti. In the wake of this devastating earthquake, we extend our hope and sympathy to these families. We hope you will help us do even more to aid their recovery. Every purchase of a fair-trade item from Haiti donates extra to help Haitian artisans affected by the earthquake.

Thank you for building hope and helping to heal Haiti.

Keep hope alive with a gentle hand-crafted reminder captured in aqueous recycled glass and tawny copper. Hand-stamped with "Hope," it's a serene accessory with a heartfelt global message.

Using recycled glass beads by the Global Mamas artisan collective in Ghana, West Africa, this bracelet is stamped by hand and assembled in the Haitian village of Cerca la Source by Club Mama. The women began the Club Mama collective, a jewelry-crafting project, in order to earn enough money to build a school for their children. In this remote community there are few resources, and these committed women are truly its future.

This collaboration is a exclusive project of the Greater Good Network, helping to connect women artisans across the world.

Housed in a small school in the impoverished community of Cerca La Source, Haiti, Club Mama provides exciting new economic opportunity for more than eighty local women and their families. In a remote area where most people earn less than $1 a day as subsistence farmers, Club Mama's jewelry project offers artisans a better income, skills training, and education for their children.

Club Mama began when local women approached Partners In Health's sister organization in Haiti, Zanmi Lasante, to seek help in creating better opportunities for themselves and their families. Their goal was to build a school where their children could find new hope for the future.

Artisan Ruth Jean has found new hope for the future since becoming a member of Club Mama. "I have learned a skill that I never thought I could do," she says. "Each piece of jewelry I make takes time, but the time is worth it because I am proud of the outcome. I hope that we can continue to work together as Club Mama, to improve our economic situations so that our children can lead better lives. I'm very happy to have friends from other countries that are supporting us to make this dream become a reality."

In a world rife with inequality, Club Mama's beautiful copper and silver "espwa" ("hope" in Haitian Creole) charms are a constant reminder that we must continue to have hope and work toward change.

Partners In Health, a global health and social justice organization working in eleven countries, works with local governments and organizations to strengthen the public health system while striving to improve communities' access to the social and economic rights they merit shelter, food, education, and employment.
