Your purchase of Partners In Health co-founder Dr. Paul Farmer's remarkable story generates an extra donation to help Haitian survivors.

The GreaterGood Network is continuing to raise funds for emergency medical aid for survivors of the earthquake in Haiti. The scope of the catastrophe remains incredible, matched only by the strength and spirit of the Haitian people. Partners In Health has been working in Haiti for over 20 years, with a 4,000-strong medical staff made up almost entirely of Haitians striving to meet Haiti's medical needs.

Thank you for building hope and helping to heal Haiti.

While some know Dr. Paul Farmer for his career as a specialist in infectious disease and his book on the connections between poverty and disease, his true passion is found at the end of a end of a rutted road hours from Haiti's capital of Port-au-Prince. In a region considered poor even by Haitian standards, the Zanmi Lasante (ZL) Sociomedical Complex in the village of Cange is a vital contributor to regional health care. Supported by the Boston-based foundation Partners in Health, ZL has made a significant difference over the past two decades in the well-being of the people of Haiti. ZL has also been a leader in the fight against antibiotic-resistant tuberculosis in places as diverse as Siberia and Peru, bringing their cure rates into comparability with those in the U.S.

Mountains Beyond Mountains is the story of this remarkable physician, humanitarian, and trailblazer. From his unconventional childhood through his side-by-side work with Haitians in the tobacco fields of North Carolina, his time in Haiti before attending Harvard Medical School, and his twenty years of service to Cange, Paul Farmer's story is an inspiring portrait of how the compassion and commitment of one person can change the world.
