Celebration Egyptian Scarf
Celebrate compassion, stability, peace, and fair trade practices with the uncompromising quality of traditional Egyptian weaving. Hand-woven by rural artisan families in Egypt, these scarves -- ferkas -- have been sold or traded to Sudanese women to celebrate social milestones for centuries.
Egypt's decades-old trade embargo against the Sudan has had an enormous impact on these artisans, forcing them to rely on a meager trickle of seasonal tourism. Through the efforts of the Nagada Weaving Project, artisans have been able to find a global market for their crafts, providing them with a steadier income.

June 25, 2013 - I bought the brown scarf. It's a slightly unusual but very warm color combination. This scarf is long enough to be more versatile than some. Soft and drapey.
December 7, 2012 - I bought this article wanting a quality, natural-fabric, and substantial scarf, not a tiny and insubstantial piece of fabric. I was not disappointed! I bought the blue which was true to measurements and quality. The only thing I would like to comment on is that the picture of the blue shows some white stripes which are actually a pretty, lighter blue, but it could just be the picture taken, or my screen. The scarf is absolutely beautiful! Thank you!
